Algiers is the capital and largest city of Algeria, situated on the west side of a bay of the Mediterranean Sea. A big, bustling, whitewashed city, the modern part is built along the seashore and is overlooked by the old part set on a hill, the ancient city of the deys (Ottoman rulers), and crowned at the top (122 m above the sea) by the historic neighbourhood of the Casbah (citadel and quarter surround it) dating to the 17th century. Ibiza Town, or as the locals call it Vila d’Eivissa, is situated on the SE coast of the Spanish island of Ibiza, of which it is the capital.
